President Gloria Reid Presents the Lerryn Mutton Shield to the winning Green Point Christian School Debate Team accompanied by coach Paul Chambers.

The Debate topic was:

"That Australia’s need for oil outweighs potential harm to its coastal marine environment"

At our 27 August meeting we experienced a terrific debate on the above topic. It was a close finish, with Green Point Christian College  just pipping the Central Coast Grammar School.

Now in its 26th year, the Kincumber Probus High School debates were started in 1993 by former NSW Legislator and club member Lerryn Mutton. Again, this year, the final debate was decided by adjudicator Sue Macneil, who always provides excellent insight and feedback to the teams performance.   Winning is not based upon which point of view is "right," but instead on how well the teams form and present their arguments and counter the arguments of the other team.
